Steven Blake – Senior Pastor
As a child, Steven was saved as a result of a local church’s bus ministry where he grew up in Mississippi. He attended Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis TN. He was pastor in New York and had worked for Lifeway Christian Resources before retiring from the company.
Steven was called as the senior pastor of Bloomingdale First Baptist Church in December 2019. Steven is married to DeLynn and they have three daughters they adopted while living in New York. Their family also includes, eleven grandchildren, Steven’s mom Linda and their dog Harley.

Angelia Jernigan – Music Director
Angelia grew up at FBC. She has directed the music off and on for the last twenty years. Aside from leading the music ministry, Angelia is the director of the Women’s Missionary Union. As part of that job, she leads a group of women called Women In Motion. The ladies in this group are of various ages. They participate and lead in missions at our church, in our community and across the globe.
Angelia is married to Mitch, who teaches Sunday School and sings in the choir at FBC. They have one dog named Thor. He is a very active brindle Boxer. Thor entertains them and keeps them laughing! Outside of her church leadership responsibilities, Angelia loves going snow skiing, taking cruises, and traveling to places she has never been. She does all of these activities with her husband, Mitch.
Jeremy Holland- Youth Pastor
Jeremy grew up at FBC. He has been leading the youth ministry since 2013. He has a desire to see the youth in our church and in our community come to know Jesus, and to help them grow in that relationship.
Jeremy is married to Sarah. Jeremy and Sarah have two sons, Conner and Cameron, and serve as foster parents as well. They also have two dogs, Duke and Sanford. Jeremy enjoys watching football and spending time outside with His family.
Jeremy’s favorite verse is Matthew 25:40 because it is a reminder that our whole purpose in life is to point others to God in word and action. This verse helps us see that in order to do that we must humbly serve others.
Brandy Saxon- Preschool Director
Brandy grew up at FBC. She teaches our Preschool Sunday school class and coordinates our Preschool Wednesday night program. She has been leading in this area since 2015. Brandy, along with other volunteers, plans different activities and lessons for our preschool kids.
Brandy works as a paraprofessional in the Effingham County school district. Brandy loves spending time with her nieces and nephews. She also enjoys crafts, shopping, reading, and watching movies.
Two of her favorite verses are Hebrews 6:19 and Philippians 4:13 because they remind her that Jesus is her strength and will never leave her.
